Add trips to keep track of milage (and automatically update), especially for vintage/classic cars

Thanks @Niek this is a great idea and I think we can add support for this pretty easily in the History File.

I believe that a potential solution would be if we added a new ‘Entry Type’ to the History file called ‘Trip’ or something like that which lets you set a location, maybe some photos from the trip etc and also your end of trip car’s mileage (optionally your start of trip mileage too).

We could then update the mileage spent on the trip (optionally from your previous mileage) and also the total mileage on your car at the same time.

It’d also allow us to generate some really nice mileage reports for people who want to see where they have ‘spent’ their miles for the cars they own.

Does that sound like the kind of thing you mean?

P.S: I’m also keen to add support for some OBD scanner / trackers in the future for more modern cars but we probably have to wait a while before we can prioritize adding that.

That’s exactly what I was thinking! Sounds like a great idea to combine it with the history feature, should work really well that way.

While on the subject of milage, do you think it’s possible to have both miles/km displayed? I know at the moment you can choose between the two, but perhaps it would be nice to have them listed next to each other (obviously with the preferred/selected one first). I suspect I’m not the only one with a dual speedometer/trip counter fitted to the car?

@Nieknijsen interesting suggestion regarding the mileage, I’m not sure off the top of my head but I’ll look perhaps to add it as an option ‘combined’
