History file attachment previews#24

I would suggest that when you attatch an image on a history files section, you should be able to display it or at least open it.

Thank you very much for your suggestion.

Two things:

1.) You’d like to see image previews: We will be adding support for image galleries on History File entries which will be seperate from attachments. This will work particularly well for people who want to document their restorations and/or have pictures of meetups etc.

2.) You’d like to view the attachment quickly / open it: This is obviously not ideal but if you’d like a quick way to view an attachment until we come up with a better solution you can either:

• Set your computer to automatically preview files of certain types (e.g Chrome does this by default for PDFs)

• Right click and ‘open in new tab’ on the download buttons and your device will preview it in the browser (or native app) if it’s a supported file type.

We will also investigate more options on being able to preview images which have been saved as attachments specifically. We do a lot of optimisations to manage our images on the platform (seperately to attachments) so adding support to ‘only some’ attachments is actually a relatively difficult technical endeavour. I’d certainly like to, but it might take some time to do it well (so images load just as fast in History file attachments as they do for Car galleries).
