Starting to build API that can integrate data from manufacturer apps, such as mileage, service state etc. these apps read data live from modern cars and would be invaluable and auto-updating data sources.
Also consider the same for home charger apps as these form part of people’s garages
We would LOVE to do this - we will see if manufacturers decide to play ball. So far its a mixed bag as (we assume) they want to keep people in their dealer / service ecosystem.
I doubt you will ever get all manufactuers, but if you can get even one then it sets the precident and as you rplatform gains traction, your shared clients will begin to put pressure on and some more will follow. And they may find in time that adoption of a platform agnostic service gives them a competative edge in time.
Speak of which - CoughAndroidCough 😂
Also, policies forcing main dealer servicing and parts have been prohibited for a while now. Its not a stretch of the imagination to see how this could be extended to providing APIs for the data generated by the car that is required for modern maintenance of a car - either direct API with the car or via thier cloud (i know which I would support if I were them)
